Preparing to Fundraise
Before you begin to fundraise it is important to ensure that your group or organisation is eligible to do so. Different funding providers have different criteria, but as a general rule, you should ensure that you have the following basic requirements in place.
- A constitution (set of rules) which states how your group or organisation will operate. See the Charity Commission guidance on Governing Documents.
- A management committee which includes a chairperson, a secretary and a treasurer. See the Charity Commission guidance on Governing Documents.
- A bank account - this cannot be a personal bank account. It must be an account in the name of the group or organisation with at least two signatories. Click here to visit VolResource to learn more about bank accounts.
It is also important that you have a clear understanding of your aims and objectives and how you will achieve them, this will help to identify specific funding opportunities based on the activities you will carry out and the beneficiaries you will help.
