Runners wanted for the 2010 London Marathon
The Virgin London Marathon 2010: Raising money for local causes in Harrow
The North West London Community Foundation in partnership with Harrow Association of Voluntary Services is looking for runners to raise money for local causes as part of the Harrow Grassroots Endowment Challenge Fund.
The vision of both organisations is to develop a self sustaining pot of money to support local community groups not only through the recession but to support the development of new services and volunteers opportunities by improving the quality life of local people.
We have ambitious plans to raise over £300,000 by 2011. For every £1 we raise the government will match another £1.
NWLCF has awarded to date over £115,056.51to 30 community groups who are delivering a range of activities: after school activities; radio projects; IT training for older people; luncheon club for elders; building refurbishment; provision of equipment and furniture ; sport projects; befriending; provision of Yoga courses and health support.
We have now available a number of places for runners who live and or work in Harrow to participate in the 2010 Virgin Marathon.
We are looking for runners who will be committed to running in the Marathon, who are reasonably fit and can raise money from their work, community social contacts and connections.
Fundraising Target
Your minimum fundraising target for running the London Marathon for NWLCF is £2,000 (exclusive of Gift Aid). It is important that you realise that the challenge of fundraising this amount has to be approached with at least as much dedication and commitment as training for the actual race itself. We’ll support you all the way, but please do ensure that you are very confident you will be able to exceed this target before applying for a place.
We also consider joint splitting and sharing of money raised with other local charities that have already a volunteers/trustee/member of staff or other connected individuals who want to run in the London Marathon provided they raise the minimum of £2000 for the Harrow endowment fund anything above this will belong to the charity/voluntary /community organisation.
