January is set to be a very busy month for all of us. With so much going on we thought it would be helpful to provide a summary of events and consultations taking place. Draft Third Sector Strategy – Consultation
The draft Third Sector Strategy was approved for consultation by the Council’s cabinet committee on the 17th December. This is a key document that sets out a new way forward for the development of the relationship between the voluntary and statutory sectors. We are seeking your views on the strategy before it is finalised in March 2010. There will be two consultation events taking place in January these will be held on;
Wednesday 13th January at HAVS, 64 Pinner Road, Harrow from 3.30pm-5.30pm.
Monday 18th January at Harrow Civic Centre from 5-7pm.

BME Leadership programme - 19th January 2010
The second meeting of the BME Leadership programme takes place on Tuesday 19th January 2010, 6.30-8.30pm, Committee room 5 at Harrow Civic Centre. This programme is aimed at building the skills of BME staff, volunteers and trustees. Membership of the group is open and it does not matter if you did not attend the first meeting.
Equalities, Diversity and Human Rights consultation workshop: Wednesday 20th January 2010.
Harrow Council is working with community partners to establish a new, independent equalities organisation for the Borough. At this workshop participants will hear feedback from the initial research and consultation that has been undertaken and will be able to explore options for this new organisation.
Outcomes based reporting: Monday 25th January 2010
Increasingly funding bodies are asking voluntary organisations to demonstrate how their services make a difference to service users by measuring outcomes rather than outputs. This workshop will help voluntary organisations understand how to set and measure relevant outcomes. You are invited to attend one of two workshops on the 25th either 9.30am-12pm or 6pm-8.30pm both to be held at the Civic Centre. Bookings should be made via peter.singh@harrow.gov.uk
Procurement 2 day workshop: Tuesday 4th February and Wednesday 10th February
This two day workshop will help organisations understand and meet general procurement requirements so that they are in a better position to bid for Council and other public sector contracts. The workshop will be delivered by Social Enterprise London.
